Emails downloaded locally, and removed from server

In outlook 2010, is there a reason why the emails are being downloaded locally to a machine and then removed from the server? Is this a setting that is causing this to be removed? Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to add, that I don't want the emails cached to my PC, but pulled from the server, but not removing them.

This is with an Exchange mailbox? Do you have a pst configured as the delivery location or use rules to move mail to a pst file?
