Email stuck in Outbox - Office 2013

Is not being able to view what is in the Outbox something new with Office 2013?




Before I had things set up and working the way I wanted it (thank you for that BTW) I had 3 emails that had gotten stuck in the Outbox. I couldn't view them in the Outbox, and couldn't delete them, but I knew what they were, so didn't worry about them too much.




Now I have a fourth email that has gotten stuck in the Outbox, and I have no idea what it is, I can't view it, and I can't delete it.




I've tried disabling the COM Add-ins as suggested in a tip for an older version of Office with no joy.




Any suggestions?
 
I am seeing complaints about EAS messages getting stuck in a hidden state. Some users fixed it by running scanpst on the ost file - this caused the message to display so it could be deleted.

Are they messages to single people? I've seen reports when sending to multiple people gets stuck but sending to the addresses individually works. I have not been able to repro, so i can't prove it one way or the other.

Also, if you are using Preview, it's my understanding that it's fixed in RTM.
 
Where or how do I use scanpst?




I believe some or all of the original 3 messages were sent to an unexpanded group. I have no idea what the 4th message is.
 
I see ScanOst listed as well. If this is my EAS account synced with Outlook.com, should I be using that instead?
