OWA phones home too much?

Using OWA on Exchange 2010 server. As I type on my Windows 7 Pro work laptop, on which I have Office/Outlook 2007 installed, I'm NOT on my work network nor VPN'd, I'm 100% on a home network, and do NOT even have full Outlook running. Yet periodically, about every 10-15 mins or so, I get a connection popup asking for my credentials and labeled at the top with "Welcome back to webmail.myworkdomain.org". If I click on OK, it immediately comes up with the same popup, but with "Welcome to outlook.myworkdomain.org". It alternates between both of those popups unless I click on Cancel, and only then stays away for another 10-15 mins or so.

Why is this happening? I'm guessing it must be some parameter in Outlook, but I'll be darned if I can find it. I reeeeally want this to stop as it's gotten reeeeally annoying :) Is there a solution?

It wouldn't be in Outlook, it would be in OWA. I'm guessing it's trying to check for new messages every 15 minutes, or reminders or calendar. But I'm not aware of any settings in OWA that you can turn off to stop the messages, short of closing the browser or setting it offline.
