Outlook contact, calendars, and tasks wont set up in icloud

1. When I try to enable iCloud contacts, calendars, and tasks in Outlook I get an error message that the iCloud Control Panel did not install properly. I was successful with bookmarks and photos, and a long running time it finally seemed to set up mail.

2. Read lots of the posted messages and what people recommended.

3. I removed, rebooted, and reinstalled iCloud. Still won't enable the contacts, calendars, etc.

4. I removed, rebooted, and reinstalled iCloud running as an administrator. Still won't enable.

5. I have looked in the AppData for the aplzod folder to see if an old one was there and causing problems. It wasn't.

6. I checked the data stores and no aplzod.

7. My conclusion is yes iCloud is not installing completely. But am a loss at what I need to do. Are there some residual files left around somewhere that are preventing a good installation?

8. Been struggling with this for 2 days. Have a netbook with the identical installation and iCloud/Outlook is working perfectly. Arrgh! Help please.
 
Monday morning update -

1. uninstalled icloud

2. uninstalled Outlook

3. rebooted

4. checked the directories to see if all the files had been removed from appdata\microsoft\outlook

5. reinstalled Outlook

6. reinstalled iCloud

7. iCloud now has photos, bookmarks, and mail.

8. iCloud will not install contacts, calendars, or tasks. Same error message about the install being incorrect.

9. checked the directory and no aplzod file exists.

The truly mystifying aspect of this is my netbook has exactly the same configuration and works fine. HELP PLEASE!!!

#10 When I look at Outlook/Options/Addins it says that the icloud addin is there and active.
 
Dancing a happy jig! Have been scouring the internet for tips/clues/answers for this problem. Found a suggestion related to an error I saw on the report created during the install of iCloud. That person had started their pc in safe mode and then did the install. That is exactly what I did and iCloud installed mail/contacts/calendar. Wish I understood better what the underlying issue was but am -very- happy it is now working.
 
Happy jig over. :-<. Updated to Office365 and iCloud no longer working. I have repaired, uninstalled, installed, repaired Office365 all to no avail. Everytime I try to configure for contacts/calendar/mail it gives me an error message the iCloud was not installed properly and to do a repair. Am at a complete loss as to what to do. Microsoft support took a look at the system remotely and couldn't find anything wrong. Hoping some reader will see this and have some clues/possible solution.
