How to share calendar categories?

When sharing my Calendar, the events are not linked to the category list.

Sharing my Calendar (Outlook from Microsoft 365, Exchange) with a my wife's account on a windows laptop, also using Microsoft 365 exchange.
Microsoft 365 Home, Windows 10 x64 on both devices.

The calendar is synchronized, on my wife's laptop, the list of categories, within Calendar, is available, but the events are simply not linked, i.e. events are not categorized.

This probably may have something to do with permission, but one way or the other I can't change it.

Attached screenshot shows
on the left 2 window panels the permissions settings on my desktop - my wife having 'Can edit' permission
on the right 2 panels of the calendar permissions on my wife's laptop, when trying to access permissions (empty permissions box)
(note that the 'new appointment' is grayed out on the shared calendar)

Any idea how to solve this?

Many posts on Internet are about adding permissons or something, but with me here, that is not possible, regretfully so.

Thanks!

Outlook.com accounts don't have the permissions needed to see / use the owner's categories. She should see the categories as white / no color - but if she adds the category to her category list, they should be in color.

No the computer where she can't add new items to your calendar, go into File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Double click on the account and click More Settings. Is "Turn on shared calendar improvements" enabled? That is required for people to add to the shared calendar. Otherwise, they need to send you an invitation.

First, many thanks.
All the appointments were 'green' in her case. When 'opening' an appointment/event the category label was missing. The categories list, was/is there though.
Now, after some hours something funny is going on... I see green colour changing in the actual category colour and the label is added.
Still many are green though. It'll take overnight I suppose, or maybe even a few days. It is calendar with many entries, I mean -many-.
Maybe there are too many.

Turn on shared calendar improvements is enabled, both parts.

Interesting. It's usually on the item but no color.

Syncing should only be a few minutes - if she can see the item on the shared calendar, the properties of the item (the category) should be there.

Turn on shared calendar improvements is enabled, both parts.
Can she edit an item on the calendar?

In classic Outlook in a subscription:
The left is Outlook on the web in the owner's account. The right in in classic Outlook in the shared calendar.

The aqua color is categorized and was created in the owner's calendar.

The other one I created in the shared calendar in classic Outlook and it uses the color assigned to the calendar (Yellow is the color in the owner's account). The owner's categories list shows in classic Outlook too - that is a change as it used to only show the category on the item. (They did a lot of work on calendar sharing options.)

It shouldn't matter, but I accepted the share in Outlook on the web.

Thanks again Diana.
Yesterday evening, when opening Outlook on the laptop, it started to sync about 170MB on Calendar data.
This morning this looked fine, events were properly categorized with different colours and so on.

This morning I noticed that old dates were displayed as 01-01-1601 (Calendar in listview). Not just one, many.
After opening and re-saving, the proper date (e.g. 1957) was then displayed.
I wrote a post about it, with screenshots.

Just now, when wanting to check as from what old date Calendar was showing this old date, I noticed that all old dates were updated.
So I deleted that post.

I simply had to be patient...

Off topic: on my smartphone I use Calengoo as calendar app. I tried a number of apps (payware), but all fail to connect to Microsoft Exchange. However, this app does and it is really fast on every aspect. Searching, synchronizing, even matters way back to 1950.
Syncing with Microsoft Office 365 using Microsoft's Graph API (whatever that means).
