Hi all,

In tasks I have them sorted by folder which works fine. I would like hose tasks to be organized by due date within the folders. I set up a custom sort by folder then by date the folder breakout collapses.

any ideas?

So you want to group by folder, then by date within the folder group? You need to disable the option to automatically group

Perfect! Thanks so much. This view makes the most sense to me since I use different folder setup to manage projects. It is nice to view them independently with task items within those folders sorted by date. If anyone has a "best practices" for how they use/view multiple folders and tasks please share.

cheers

When it comes to best practices with folders, it ends up being pretty much whatever the user decides :) It's all about your efficiency and work habits...

The recommended best practice for Outlook is that is should not be organized like a filing cabinet. Use as few folders as necessary and use views, categories, instant search to sort and find things - but very few follow those recommendations. I probably do the best - and i have like 20 mail folders in my main account. I generally use 1 task and calendar per account but have several accounts in outlook 2010 & 2013 and each created their own calendar and tasks, which makes adhering to any best practice impossible.

Thanks - I to try to limit the folder structure. I agree with the categories (why not call them tags?)/view filtering as well, but like you find it hard to do.
