2013 Calendar sort date

I would like to sort my calendar to just start with current and upcoming events and not show any outdated events. Help please!
 
You can create a filtered view that hides past items.

go to View tab, click View Settings, then filter. On the advanced tab, type End in the Field field choose on or after and type yesterday. Every day the view will update and the view should hide older items. One caveat: recurring events. You need to filter all recurring events out to hide them.

Thank you. I was able to filter my upcoming events. However, I would like to show any upcoming birthdays - right now they are showing with the date that I actually entered the birthday date.
 
You are in a table/list view? That is normal - you only see the start date of recurring events, not each date. Or, you are using a view that shows the Modified or created date, not the start date.
