adding comment to top of forwarded email

OL13. I often want to add a comment to a forwarded email but have run into a problem with some email that has a background color. this color then takes up all of the forwarded email, forcing me to write on top of the color.

Is there any way to add blank, white, unformatted, space to the top of a forwarding email?

that works perfectly. In fact, changing page color to 'white' makes the area above the forwarded mail white and doesn't affect the background of the forwarded mail at all, it is still (in this case) blue. Seems that the formatting of the forwarded mail was affecting the format of the mail that is containing it.

Are you forwarding the message inline or as an attachment? Replies/forwards use the same format as the original, i expected it would change the entire message to white (if forwarding inline).

not as an attachment. I just click "forward". I have only tried it on one email. on that one it only changed the background at the top,above the header info, where I would want to type my message. the background of the original email, below the header, remained the same. at least, on the forward of this particular email.

I don't purposely use backgrounds either. It appears along with the forwarded email.
