Mystery emails in Outbox

I use Outlook 2013. I recently converted from POP3 to IMAP. Email seems to be working and synching fine with laptop, Droid phone, and server. My outbox on my laptop only recently began collecting emails that were already sent. Not all sent emails populate the Outbox, only some and I cannot figure out why or which populate and which do not. Also, each email has no size - 0KB. This does not seem to impact performance in any way as the laptop and phone seem to be completely in synch.

Any ideas are welcome.
 
Does a copy get moved to the sent folder? It sounds like the outbox is not fully refreshing, or it's not receiving notification from the server that the message was sent. what antivirus do you use? If it's scanning outgoing mail it can cause communication problems that result in situations such as this, although in most cases the full message is left in the outbox. Try restarting outlook in safe mode and see if the messages leave the outbox.
