New emails not appearing until Outlook is closed and re-opened

We are running Exchange 2010. Setup Outlook 2013 on new user laptop, configured client to pull in email address(es). Running in cached mode. Outlook opens, all .ost's are created, email start populating, all looks good. All email folders are up to date and client is connected to exchange. Send a test email to user and nothing shows up, but she receives them on her phone. Close Outlook and re-open and new emails appear immediately. Checked send/receive settings and all email accounts are in the group to send/receive every 2 minute, but even manually clicking send/receive does not bring in new emails, only closing and re-opening. I have removed and re-created profile. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
 
If you are using exchange, it should be doing a push, so the send and receive setting won't matter. But... it shouldn't be more frequent that every 5 - 8 minutes for pop3 or imap accounts.

Do the messages show up if you change folders? The usual cause is a firewall or nat router blocking exchange and outlook from talking.

My first recommendation is to delete the SRS file and let outlook use the defaults for the send and receive settings. This will reset everything to the way outlook likes it.

Type or paste %appdata%\microsoft\outlook in the address bar of windows explorer and press enter then delete the SRS file for the profile.
 
Thank you for your response. Changing folders nor removing existing SRS resolved the issue. Firewall, etc. settings are the same for her as all other users on same network connected to same exchange server. Just swapping out her laptop. Weird.
 
uh oh, now the send/receive is failing on the receiving for all accounts when I manually click send/receive. Did the SRS file not recreate properly?
 
No, i don't think the SRS is the problem, it could be a corrupt profile.

Does it work ok in Safe mode? To open Outlook in Safe mode: Close Outlook then hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon. You'll get a message asking if you want to start in Safe mode. Click Ok.

You could try a new profile with one account in it - preferably the account that first acted up - and see if it works.
 
Diane, thank you. Didn't try safe mode, but practically everything else under the sun and finally just took it out of cached mode to buy me some time (since it is a laptop going offsite, I would like to have in cache mode). I am doing some maintenance on the exchange server this weekend and perhaps a good old fashioned server reboot, then rebuild the profile on the laptop might do the trick. Either way, I will post the outcome. Thanks again.
