Email Hyperlinks from one source won't open

I am using Outlook 2007 on a Windows 10 PC. My default browser is Chrome. I receive a weekly email on Tuesdays from a service provider with hyperlinks to job vacancies. Since 23 December 2015 the hyperlinks in these emails have stopped working. If I select ‘copy hyperlink’ and paste it into Chrome, the link works. It also works if I forward the email to my Gmail account and click on the links there.

The issue is only present with emails from this one source. Interestingly, the links work in older emails from this source – ie those received before 23 December 2015. I have tried setting Edge as my default browser but the issue persists – older emails from the source and other emails with hyperlinks open in Edge; but the ones received after 23 December will not open.

To summarise, I have a browser independent hyperlink issue in Outlook 2007 confined to emails from one source. My guess is that the emails are being generated by an app with compatibility issues with Outlook 2007. Or is it at my end – is there an Outlook setting I can tweak to resolve the issue or should I refer it to the email provider?

I'm assuming it's not this, since some links work - Outlook Links Won't Open In Windows 10

Are the messages HTML? If so, look at the message source (right click on the bottom of the message, choose view source)
Find the URLs in the source - is there anything different about them?

If you set IE as the default browser, do they work?

There were some security updates installed in December but I don't think they would affect links.

Thanks Diane for your prompt reply. Sorry, I should have said I also tried IE11 as the default browser and it behaved the same way as Chrome and Edge – all hyperlinks work except in the post 23 Dec ones from this one source. There was one exception though with IE11, the change wasn't saved and the next time I tried I got the dialog that asks what program I wanted to use to open the link. Clicking the 'Always use this app box' did not save the changes either.

I'm assuming the email is in HTML but the right click 'view source' option isn't displayed in these messages (either old or new). The only option available is 'translate'. The other three (copy, who is, synonyms) are grayed out. Right clicking on a hyperlink displays 'select hyperlink', 'open hyperlink' and 'copy hyperlink' and 'who is'. The other option is 'copy' and that is grayed out. Perhaps I should try reinstalling Outlook 2007.

I uninstalled and reinstalled MS Office Enterprise 2007. It restored the 'view source' option on right click. The URLs look fine and I copied and pasted these into the browser and they worked fine.

This sounds like the link bug in Windows 10 - instructions to fix it are at Outlook Links Won't Open In Windows 10 - actually, I wonder if the update that fixes this bug is behind your issue - the patch came out on the 16th.
