Outlook 2021 Inbox delete icon missing

Operating system::    windows 11
Outlook version:     classic outlook
Email type or host:    imap
suddenly the column in the inbox that contained a delete icon is gone. how do I get it back?
 
Did you try resetting the view?

Are you using the Reading pane?

Are you using classic Outlook or new outlook? If you arent sure - classic have the Outlook icon in the top left and new Outlook says "outlook".

Glad to hear it’s working again, Frank. Sometimes Outlook just needs a little nudge like that.

LOL. I hear "I swear it wasn't working!" all the time. I joke that it's my magic touch but Outlook can be quirky. I have no doubt it wasn't working then started working again.
