Is the Windows Outlook Tasks module really going to be gone?

The quote below is from a certain Outlook for productivity guru. Is the Windows Outlook Tasks module really going to be gone? Is it going deprecated? That is, available if one can bring it ‘back from the dead’ with some registry sorcery? Please advise.

“the highly successful multi-decade run of the Windows Outlook Tasks module is coming to an end—it is being phased out of all versions of Outlook. It's gone from Mac Outlook, gone from Outlook online, and gone from the newest previews of the next Windows Outlook release. Once that preview becomes the main release (presumably only months away)—the old Outlook Tasks module will be completely gone! “
 
No.... although Microsoft would like to kill them. It's in classic Outlook and is likely to stay there as long as they have a classic Outlook version (although you can toggle Outlook classic to use to-do instead) - but for people who don't have Microsoft 365 or outlook.com accounts, they need classic Outlook Tasks, not to-do.

FWIW, journal is still there... they killed most of the journaling features but have not excised it - because they need to maintain backwards compatibility.

Oh and "windows outlook" refers to new Outlook - which does use to-do, not Tasks - but classic Outlook has both.

I'm hoping classic Outlook goes the way of OneNote desktop - they planned on replacing the win86 version with an app - changed their plans within 2 years or so and killed the app version. I don't see them killing new Outlook - its replacing windows mail - but hope they keep classic a lot longer than 5 more years.

I hope they keep classic outlook for at least 25 years, so my kids can read my emails after I'm gone.
 
Outlook (especially current versions) may not work on Windows 2050. :) But there should be ways of getting the mail out of the pst so they can read it.

I'm hoping they give up on replacing classic Outlook - like they did with replacing OneNote with a OneNote windows store app.

I don't care what they call this feature, as long as it's preserved.
 
As long as Outlook classic is around, it will be preserved - but if their plan to replace classic Outlook succeeds, it will be gone. :(

(I'm hoping it is like the attempt to replace OneNote with an app... and they'll give up on it.)
