Hello, I saw an item in EMO that Microsoft support for Classic outlook 2021 is ending this month.

Does this also include the Professional Plus edition?
 
Yes, updates ended. Support services ended too, but that was nonexistent from Microsoft so not many end users / consumers had access to it, only corps paying for it.

Because most exploits these days are ‘specially crafted email, you need to do what the email says’ security is probably not going to be a problem unless you follow the steps in the email. (Yet some people do!)

Bugs will not be fixed.

Office 2021 is now considered “end of life”. A 5 year lifespan is typical for software.

It’s still going to work, as long as something in a new os doesn’t break features. That usually takes 10+ years after release. 🙂
 
Hello Diane, thanks for the quick reply. I forgot that our laptop has the LTSC version of Professional Plus 2021, will this still be affected the same way?
The desktop PC has the "normal version" of Office Professional Plus 2021, so I am hoping to only have to upgrade ONE licence at the moment to Office 2024!
 
Honest question for anyone here: if the Office apps keep working after EOL, is there any point paying for new licences right away? I moved most of my document work to free software anyway – WordCraftApp is an open-source word processor that opens and saves DOCX files cleanly, so the only thing I still need Outlook itself for is mail and calendars. Seems like a reasonable way to stretch an older licence a few more years.

I have been using an old version of Outlook with a GMail account for some years. I did worry about my Outlook not having the latest security updates, but if there is anything at all suspicious about an email, I open it in GMail Web first. Have not had any problems of any kind.
