Want ONE inbox MANY accounts

In OL 2007 I was able to configure one single inbox / pst file for mail in my Charter, Google, and iCloud accounts. Downloading to this one file was no problem as long as no mobile device was set to read the data at the same time as I asked for OL download, even though Charter was configured as POP, Goodle as IMAP, and iCloud as IMAP. Now with OL 2010 that capability seems to be lost. Worse, now I cannot even read my Charter email at the Charter.net site - they claim this is because the PC is Windows 8. So I am stuck with lower functionality on an upgrade and vendors claiming it is the other guy. I am very experienced so please don't suggest that I make sure it is plugged in - there are a number of very frustrating problems with Windows 8 and associated software including Office/Outlook, but this one is the worst so far. Please let me know if there are any known solutions - for example, in the accounts list I see no way to change the output file for any of the accounts, whether or not I configure them for POP, and in the case of Google mail I can't even get past the OL configuration because it will not accept Google's version of SMTP.
 
Charter makes no sense, unless you are deleting mail from the server (outlook doesn't delete for 2 weeks).

You can't have a universal inbox with imap, only with pop3. You can use a macro to create a instant search for new maul on all mailboxes. I have the macro at slipstick.com and will post it when I get on a real computer.

The other option is changing to pop3 but me.com doesn't support afaik.
