Hi,

The status line at the bottom of the Outlook window says:

All folders are up to date. Updating address book. Connected to Microsoft Exchange.

When I restart Outlook or reboot, the "Updating address book" goes away for a few minutes, but then it comes back. Apparently, the address book is stuck updating. I have tried manually downloading the address book, but it does not work.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Diane, I too am having same issue and I don't have any OAB files in the %localappdata%\Microsoft\outlook folder also my sysadmin says that there is no offline address book configured at the exchange.

It's unusual to not have OAB's set up - do you know if you are using cached Exchange? Can you use the Address book picker and select from the GAL when you are offline? (you need an OAB for that.)

Diane, I think I am using cached exchange mode, the check box "Use Cached Exchange Mode" is checked in my account properties. Also I don's see any contacts in the GAL while in offline mode.

Interesting. Do you know if others on the network have the same problem with the sync? It sounds like Outlook is looking for the non-existent OAB - but I'm not sure if its being mislead by the server or your configuration.

In Send and Receive settings (Ctrl+Alt+S), click Edit and check your settings. The account icon should have a red x and the "Include..." checkbox should be unchecked and everything grayed out (for standard Exchange sync). If you are syncing on a schedule, don't include the OAB.
