I have created a custom form in Outlook using a contact template and added a date field but only want it to show "day and Month" without year. Is there a way to do this?

I saw a format that was "Wed 8/8" for August 8th but I want to sort the column by month and day only and disregard the year.
 
I see you found that format. Yes, it's bad at sorting. :( Do you need to sort by date or would filtering by month work for you?

Try changing your long and short date format in Windows Control panel Regional Settings - see if you can find a format that works (I'm guessing no, because outlook is awful at sorting dates).

If you can live with views, I'll see if i can figure out a way to filter on the month and day, similar to this method: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/rules/create-custom-view-list-upcoming-birthdays/

Better might be a second field with just the month in it - you can sort by text or number fields. The macro at http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/email/sort-messages-sender-domain/ can be reworked to set the field as you save the contacts.
