Saving Changes To Edited E-Mail Received Message

Hi, New member, first question so please be patient with me !!! I want to edit an e-mail I have received. I open the e-mail, choose Actions->Edit Message. I make the changes and choose Save then close the message. When I re-open the message my changes have not been made. What am I doing wrong ? Windows 7 64-bit, Office 2010. Thank you. Chris
