Emails showing up in Search results, but not visible otherwise

Windows 7 running Outlook 2010. Large pst's with many subfolders. When I drag an email from the main Inbox to the Old Inbox of another pst file that is open, it appears to move okay, but isn't visible in the Old Inbox. Checking back and forth between the two, it appears that it's disappeared. If I search for it, it shows up in the results as being in the Inbox. I believe a few days ago in one instance it showed up in the search results as being in the Old Inbox. What's going on here? All the appropriate Indexing services are running and I went in and removed the pst files from the indexing locations, then put them back, as many posts suggest. Many thanks.
 
Yes the "old inbox" is on my computer. Reset the view? Explain..
