Outlook 365 Emails showing as links and text only

One day I noticed all my emails are in a text format and images only appear as hyperlinks, Unsure of how this happened, I've tried to do some research and I know the security setting for plain text is NOT enabled
 
Are the messages in the Inbox? (One person who asked this was looking in the junk email folder, where messages are always shown in plain text)

Try enabling the read as plain setting in security options then disable it.

What are you using for antivirus? If not Microsoft Defender, disable its email scanning features and Outlook addins.

It appears to be in every folder. Attached is an image showing what I see, where there should be images there are links with no way to download the pictures. I have disabled the Avast add in for email and tried enabling then disabling plain text security but it still looks the same.

That is either something corrupting the messages or the read as plain switch is stuck on.

If Avast is the cause, existing messages will remain broken - new ones you download will be fine. Assuming is it Avast, are the older messages in web mail broken? If they look fine in webmail, rename your data file and outlook will resync it.

All emails in the past are displaying this way as well, it started about a week ago so going back a couple months I still see the emails displaying as plain text that when I read before had images. The new emails I received today are still in plain text after switching the Avast add-in off. Bottom line I can not view any emails in any folder without it being displayed as plain text.
