how to speed up search of shared contacts

Hi all. I have a database of about 20K contacts that two colleagues of mine with Office365 mailboxes search daily from their Windows Outlook programs. The database is local to my account, and appears in their computers as Shared Contacts. Searching any name in that database takes my colleagues an average of one minute, whereas it takes me seconds. I know there are multiple factors contributing to this long search time, like internet speed, computer speed and such, but are there any tips for speeding this up?
