Will filtering and exporting contacts as .csv file make any changes in the original Contacts file of Outlook 365? Also what is the best way to export my entire contacts list to Excel? Obviously, I'm just nervous about damaging or deleting the original in OL365.
 
Exporting will not change your contacts in Outlook.
If you want to play it safe, go to where your Outlook file is stored, most likely Outlook files folder in Documents, close Outlook, and make a copy of the .pst file.
A .csv file will open in Excel, then save it as an Excel file.

Don't really know what you mean by "filtering".
