I have this Calendar entry with a reminder. Regretfully I can't change anything to it, like setting Reminder: 0 hours.
Error "You cannot make changes to contents of this read-only folder."

When checking it seems to be something like a 'Shared folder'(??) or so.

To be honest, I have no idea where to look and how to solve this.
In case of need I could delete the entry and recreate a new one.

Possibly I am looking into the wrong direction though.

Need to add: I can -not- delete the entry.
Sorry for the confusion above, where I wrote "I could delete..."

That is the Your Family calendar - created automatically by Outlook.com when you share a subscription. It should be editable.... but only if you use the new calendar experience. (It's also editable in Outlook on the web.)

Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Double click on the account and click More Settings. On the Advanced Tab, is Turn on shared calendar improvements enabled? If its enabled, you should be able to edit it.

If you don't have the option, what is your build number and version?

Many thanks for the above. With me "Turn on shared calendar improvements" is -not- turned on.
I just turned it on. I am sharing my calendar with my wife's Outlook account (obviously also 365).

Have waited a while now, but believe the error stays away now.

Super!
Thanks again Diane.

Did you restart Outlook? If that doesn't work, how is the calendar shared - look in the folder list (Ctrl+6) - is it showing as a subfolder of your calendar?

Sorry for the delay. Yes, I did restart Outlook and it seems okay now. The entry has been saved, which was not possible before.

It looks like this. A mixture of Dutch and English all within the same application ;)

Uw gezin (=your family)

Does she have english version of office but have outlook.com language set to Dutch? That could account for the family calendar name.

Ah, yes, I checked, that explains.
Hers is all English, menu / folders, etc.

Thanks again!

Ref to the above. Just for your info. Am using the Agenda also as kind of diary. Am adding old stuff to it. Important things: when we moved to a new house, bought a new things, when and where we went on vacation, etc. etc. All in the past.
Whilst doing so, there is a chance to forget the set the reminder to 'None'.

So a reminder may pop up: xxx weeks overdue.

However, I can't change / delete the entry.

FWIW Found the workaround : have "Turn on shared calendar improvements" both turned OFF
relaunch Outlook, delete the entry and turn the option on again.

Had this problem again. Checking and unchecking and checking and unchecking "Turn on shared calendar improvements" - relaunching Outlook in between each time. No solution. Did a 'Repair' Office. No solution. This was driving me crazy.

Ultimately, I turned off again the option "Turn on shared calendar improvements".
Then went into Agenda (Calendar view), deleted the item.
Then I turned ON this option. For both accounts.

Frankly, I am not sure whether it is necessary for both accounts and neither do I have any idea what the use is, what it is supposed to 'improve'.

The calendar improvements are using the new calendar sync "experience"- for outlook.com, it gives you the ability to edit the shared calendar.

FWIW only...

with "Turn on shared calendar improvements' turned ON
Discovered an easy way to solve the above and applied this a few times already, with success.
1. Calendar > View > Change View > Select: Calendar (if not already selected)
2. R-click on the appointment and drag COPY it to, for instance, the next day
3. Delete original
4. Move back the 'copied' appointment.

With me, usually it involves an appointment with a reminder. It shows up twice in the 'reminders' pop-up, likely because the Calendar is linked to the one of my wife.
I can set Reminder to 'None' in 1 reminder. That will then disappear from the pop-up.
The other one is read only, which is removed using above steps.
