Hi this is my first posting to this forum if this is too long and rambling please excuse.

I have looked for a solution to this problem but as yet not found one.

We have a shared BCM database sat on a server running Small Business Server 2003

We have 10 client machines connected to the server and the shared database. The client machines are running a veraity of operating systems win xp pro, Vista Business and Win 7 Pro. All the client machines are running Outlook 2007 with BCM 2007 and service pack 2 is installed for BCM.

The database seems to be working fine with one exception. If one user links an item say an excel spreadsheet to an account in BCM and another user needs to view the file using the history option button the file is visible and listed in the history but when its clicked on the error message box pops up with "file cannot be found" when you the cancel the dialog box a second box opens showing you the path of the file and the originator. The only user who can open it through history

is the user that posted it there in the first place. I have tried the following:

Other items listed in the history section such as linked emails and notes open fine for everyone!

The file can be opened directly from the folder it sits in on the server

I have mapped drives on the client machines and the server to the shared files folders

I have checked permissions on the folders where the files are located on the server

Any help would be gratefully recieved

problems like that are usually related to valid file paths. If the path is entered in \\fileserver\folder\excel.xls format, can the others open it?

Thank for your reply. All users can browse to the file via mapped drives on their own machines and open the file. If they are the user that attaches the file they can also open it within the history section of the account only other users get the "cannot open file" message from within the history file.

Just as an update to your specific sugestion I tried entering the path to the file and it will open but still not not via the history route in BCM
