The annual subscription for MS365 is going up. I'm not happy, so am considering a switch back to a "lifetime" license version.

I realize this is an Outlook forum but I hope people will chime in: which version should I buy for a single license that includes Excel, Word and Outlook, and runs VBA? I'm leaning toward Office Pro 2021.

I also need a single copy of Outlook (preferably and OLD version) for my un-techie husband, who ONLY uses Outlook. Is there any option for this that doesn't require me to buy him other softwares that he doesn't need?
 
If you can find a retail copy of office 2024 Home & Business, that would be the newest. Note: the cheap copies online are illegally sold volume licences and Microsoft could revoke the license at any time.

Otherwise, office 2021.

Standalone Outlook is available.

Just chiming in, I went with Office 2021 Pro for similar reasons (price jump on 365). It works well with VBA and gives you the core apps. For your husband, you might be able to find a standalone Outlook 2016 or 2019 license online, just be cautious with the source, like Diane said.

Microsoft Office Pro 2021 or 2024 (Standalone version aka Lifetime License) for both of you. He will like Outlook 2021 or 2024 just fine.

Google is saying support for 2021 ends in 2026 already . Hmm, I don't remember the cycle being so short (even if a new version DOES come out). Would be a departure from usual. Maybe a way to encourage MS365 subscriptions?
