you should be able to by opening a canned report, modify it to include the
custom field, then go to the filter page, advanced filter, select the custom
field from the drop down and then select your comparitor (i.e. "contains").
your choices for comparitors changes with the type of field (number or text).
save your new report with a name that inlcudes your filter for reference.
note: different reports (opportunity, accounts, contacts) have different
infomation pieces tied to them, you may have to poke around in several areas
to find one that has the custom field and the other types of info you want.
if you put the custom field on the Contacts page, i dont think you will find
a report in the Accounts section with the data you want. Some things roll up
to the Accounts level, some things dont seem to, or at least not the way you
might expect.
