Unable to search Note section in Contacts in icloud

All was working well for mein the iCloud until I realized that you can't search notes in an Outlookcontact if it is in Contacts in icloud.. I have tested this by creating two contactswith identical Note sections. One is in Contacts and one is in Contacts iniCloud. The search feature works perfectly in the Contact in Outlook but doesnot work in the cloud version. Has anyone experienced this problem? Thank you. Michael

click in the search field then go to Search tools, location to search - is icloud selected? it wasnt here but a few min after i enabled it, i could find notes.

i for got to mention that im using Outlook 2007. the instructions you were so nice to provide were for Outlook 2010 Exchange Server. im stand along not on a server.

i still need hepl.

On my test machine, the icloud uses a pop3 account. Try adding the Notes field to the view - that seems to kick start search in Notes. It's almost as if it only finds 'visible' fields.

Sorry... but im not sure i understand. How do you add "Notes" to the view field. thanks Michael

If you aren't using a list view (like phone list) go to the View menu and switch to the phone list or By Category, or By Company.




Then right click on the row of field names above the contacts and choose Field Chooser.


Find Notes and drag it to the row of field names. (It should be in the Frequently used fields that display first.)

To include Contact Notes content in your search, do the following. It worked for me.

Highlight Contact menu, then select View from the top menu, then Changeview

Select Manage Views

Create a new view, I called it Notes.

In Columns, I added the Note field from left to right

In Group By, I preferred group by "File As"

In Sort by, I preferred group by "File As"

Select "OK"

Close all other windows

Try searching for any content now in your notes, it should work.
