zip attachments

every time I am attaching something to my email it is automatically compressed (Zip'ed). is there any way I can turn this off? ...and where? ...I have looked everywhere and I can't find it. ...I would be so happy if someone could help me with this.

You have an addin installed that adds the capability. I know WinZip has the option - there are others. Oh you are using a mac... I'm not sure where to tell you to look, but the cause should be the same - some 3rd party installed a compression utility.
 
thanks, ...yeah I had a feeling its related to a addin. ...I searched for win zip...but I can't find any application that would do this. ...could it be hidden somewhere else?
 
The server could be doing it but that's less likely with a pop account - more common with Exchange.

You don't mention but did you import this identity from Entourage 2008?

It has been raised before, some preferences and settings are kept when importing from Entourage, and there is no way to change the setting once you're in Outlook. The zip compression is one of there settings.

If this is the situation you're in, I believe there's only one way out: save all your data, create a new identity and re-import the data…

wow, ...thats interesting. thanks so much. I think that could exactly be the case. I did import from entourage. I guess I have to try what they suggest.
