When I double click on any graphic attachment (.jpg, .png, etc.) in Outlook 2021, I get the error message shown below.
This simply should not happen because graphics files are inherently safe. They are not included in the Microsoft "Blocked file types" list.
All other file types like .pdf files, and even files with totally unknown extensions are able to be opened from Outlook. The problem is very specific to files with the extensions used by graphics files.
I have spent hours Googling this problem and cannot find a resolution. I have looked at and tried all of the the advice regarding the "Level1Remove" registry settings. None of this works which is understandable because the graphics file types are not in the default blocked files list.
None of the security related settings in Outlook changes this behavior either.
I am hoping someone has had the same problem and has found a solution. As a software company, we get many emails with screenshots and it is really painful to view them by having to save them to a file.
