Hi,
The strangest thing that happened to me this weekend when I started Outlook 2013 on Sunday. When I started Outlook 2013 [32-bit] (Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 - with all updates), I started getting this error: "Custom UI Runtime Error in Business Contact Manager for Outlook (2013)" every time I started Outlook 2013.

The Error box/message displayed:

Error found in Custom UI XML of "Business Contact Manager for Outlook":

Line: 145

Column: 48

Error Code: 0x80004005

Failed to find Office control by ID

ID: OmsForwardAsTextMessage

OK OK to All

See below for the screen shot of this message. I believe that pictures can say a thousand words!

Hopefully this might help you to understand what kind of problem I'm having and, hopefully, it will help you to diagnose my problem(s) and how to fix them, if it can be fixed.

Thank You Again.

it sounds like a problem with the toolbar - customui xml is the ribbon - control id is buttons. Was this an upgrade from 2010? I think OmsForwardAsTextMessage is the missing control - text messaging is not supported in 2013 but it is looking for it.

No, this was not an upgrade from 2010. What should I do, reinstall BCM 2013? How to do come to know Outlook inside and out? IMHO, I think that you know more than allot of the techs at Microsoft! You do keep busy, don't you? I don't how you have the time do all the things you do. I really admire you! :)

Thank You.

I actually had a guy at Microsoft tell me i knew more about all aspects of Outlook than anyone on the product team - this is because they focus on a certain area. e.g., the guys working on the calendar know a lot more than i do about the calendar, but that is all they work on.

I would repair the install. I don't know if it will help - i can't find anything useful in Bing - just anther post with the same error. No verified answer to it.

IMHO, I think that you know more on Outlook, overall, than most people at Microsoft, because each person works on a certain area, but you have it all except for the minor details.

Okay, I just "Repair the Install" by running the original BCM2010-BCMSetup-x86-en-US.exe file. It asked me if I wanted to uninstall or Repair BCM, so I chose Repair. About half way into the repair, BCM had a pop up error windows saying:

Business Contact Manager for Microsoft Outlook

Components Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5

could not be repaired. Please run Setup from the original installation

folder or disk.

Then I just clicked OK, and BCM went on to successfully finish the repair. I know that because I received that message when it was completed.

Have any ideas on how to correct the "Components Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 could not be repaired." error? This sounds serious, or at least something will be missing. I haven't launched Outlook 2013 [32-bit] yet, I just was wondering why I received this error and when BCM finished the repair, it was done successfully.

Thank You.

I have the same issue using Outlook 2013 and the November update for Outlook BCM. This error prevents me from adding attachments to records. I can add new records but no notes. When I try to save a business note I receive an error message that I should delete unneeded records because I have exceeded the 4 GB limit, yet I have only consumed 3.4 GB for this database. I've also tried to restore from a previous database with a different name but though successfully completed, the database still has the original name, even after I have moved the original database to a different location.

I did fully uninstall Business Contact Manager and reinstalled to the same error messages.

Did the previous post from 2 years ago result in solution?
