Hello,

I am running Outlook 2010 x64bit running Windows 8 Pro. (16gig ram)

Everytime I compose a message with a screenshot or image that I pasted from the clipboard, it shows perfectly fine in the message - after I send the message and check the Sent Items - the email doesn't show the pictures at all. And the person receiving the message doesn't get the picture at all either.

This also happens in my signature as well - as my signature has a image in it - but after sending it - it disappears and is blank.

If I resend the email again (go back into Sent Items) - re-paste the image, and resend it sometimes it will then send it.

I cannot for the life of me work out what is causing this.

Reading messages is fine.

I have;

  • Deleted Outlook Temp directory (in Registry)
  • Deleted Temporary Files/Directories
  • Changed Advanced Settings in Internet Explorer
  • Uninstalled & reinstalled Outlook 2010 (Office) + restart
  • Repaired Outlook

What is interesting if I try and use the clipboard manager in Outlook, and try and screenshot something i get the message:

Item not Collected: Larger than Clipboard Capacity.

Does anybody have any suggestions or come across this?

Did it ever work? Is this the only issue you are aware of? I'm thinking it might be winmail.dat issues.

The screenshot error message is because it's high res -

The Office Clipboard may stop adding items even if there are fewer than 24 if you copy large items to it. The Office Clipboard can contain up to 4 megabytes (MB) of data if system RAM is less than 64 MB, or 8 MB if system RAM is 64 MB or greater. To begin copying items again, delete some items or click Clear All on the Office Clipboard. If a single item is larger than 4 MB or 8 MB, you cannot copy the item to the Office Clipboard.

Hi Diane, thanks for the reply.

Positive - it used to to work a while ago. I've just been putting up with it for now.

I've thought about reformatting my machine, but dont want to because I've upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and its gonna be alot of mucking around to sort it out.

What are the winmail.dat issues you are thinking about?

If a message is sent using RTF formatting and the recipient doesn't use outlook, they get a plain text message and a winmail.dat attachment.

The autocomplete cache remembers the RTF setting (used for meeting requests and voting) and may send all mail as RTF. Delete the names from the autocomplete cache to clear it.
