Outlook 2013 won't download images

Hi there,

I recently downloaded Microsoft Outlook 2013 and it installed fine. I've set up my 3x POP3 accounts and a hotmail account on there and I receive and send e-mails fine.

However, the e-mails I receive won't download the images. On first receipt of an e-mail I right click and add sender to safe list (if i know the sender) and then right click again and download images. I'm then left with the white box and red X in the top left. Sometimes i have the option to view in a web browser, other times I do not.

I'm running windows 8 and use Firefox. I've reset IE10 back to it's defaults as I believe that Outlook integrates with IE - even though I have firefox set up as my preferred browser for HTML.

I've tried changing IE back to the preferred browser, I've checked the trust centre settings, I've turned off my Norton anti-spam but none of these resolve my issue.

Any one know which setting I need to change in order to view the images? Also, I used windows live mail before I purchased outlook and never experienced this issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

I don't think the problem is the default browser setting, but something with IE10 (we're seeing a lot of reports with IE10). See the last comment at http://www.slipstick.com/problems/picture-placeholders-displaying-outlook-email-messages/

I too tried everything here and elsewhere. I figured it out. This seems to have started with either a MS Patch/Update or an upgrade to IE 10. MS is notorious for resetting configurations during patches and updates/ In IE goto Internet Options-Advanced; look under Security for "Do not save encrypted files to disk". Untick this setting and Apply. Restart Outlook and you should be fixed.

Many thanks for the quick reply. I'd already come over those suggestions (sorry, I know i didn't mention i'd tried them), and niether of the boxes were checked.

Hi Dianne,

Think i've found the issue but I can't change it.

The Website Data Settings for the Teporary Internet Files shows 'Disk Space to use' as 0 and the Current location is blank. I've tried changing the size to 8 (that's the only figure it will let me choose) but it won't save.

I've checked the location in windows explorer and verified the registry matches and they look good but the settings show the Current location as blank. Could that be because there is no space allocated to the folder?

Yes, it could be the problem. 0 size means the TIF is corrupt. You need to log in as another user with admin rights and delete the TIF folder.

Excellent, this resolved the issue.

Many thanks for that, i was just about to delete the user profile when i saw tht suggestion.
