how to get inbox messages to appear before deleted file messages?

Email Account
IMAP
when i click on outlook, it automatically opens the deleted file messages first. how can i get it to go to inbox messages first?

thank you for your advice and screen shots. my outlook does not look like the screen shots at all. i do not use microsoft office so maybe my outlook.com is different. i just use the outlook.com for my email that came with windows8. i wish i could find the screen shot locations you sent me but i can't. any other suggestions? should there be something on my outlook screen? in the upper right hand corner of outlook, there is a little gear icon. when i click on that if offers choices such as manage options, manage categoores, manage rules but that's all.

Ah, if you are using Outlook.com only, your options are different - the screenshots were for outlook, the desktop app that comes with office. As far as i know, there is not a setting to set the start up folder in the mail app, it should always use the inbox. Did you try removing the account and adding it back?
