Calendar - color coded items are now the same color

For some reason all of my Calendar items (Birthdays, Medical appointments, etc.) are now the same color. I would have appointments color coded so they would stand out from each other.

The only thing I can think of that could have cause this was synchronizing my Calendar (and Contacts) items to my new Huawei P7 mobile telephone.

Thoughts?
 
If you display the Categorize dialog for an appointment item and see the item's category shown as 'xxx (not in masterlist)', then most likely the sync software deleted your master category list. If that's the case, you need to recreate it, and see if you can get a fix for the sync software.
 
Michael, when I click on a recurring appointment like someone's birthday, and then click on Categorize All Categories, all the color boxes are unchecked ... it's as if they were never color coded to begin with.
