Calendar background color

Several days of my calendar now show a brownish orange background color in

the rectangle at the top of the day view, and light brown background colors

for the blank appointment times. The rest of the year show what I believe

are the default colors of white and light blue. I did not do anything

consciously to change the background colors. Is there a way to remove the

brownish orange and light brown?

Thank you.

This is an old thread that I have a question about. Is there any way to change this behavior of Outlook changing the background color to the color of all-day events? It is obnoxious and driving me crazy. I just want a nice clean colored bar going across a white calendar background, not a blue bar on a blue background and a pink bar on a pink background and so on.

Thanks!

The only way to prevent it is to not use colors (use none (white)) or mark the all day event as free, not busy.

Ahah, thanks! I had already tried to set it to white but could not find an option other than to select a color. I now see that there is a "none" option which equals white. That will work for me!

Hi Diane,

Going back to this old post, the all day event coloring issue drives me insane. I need to use my calendar to enter tons of multiple day events and the inability to have them be a different color than the background, as well as the inability to color code them as I can with single day events, make it much harder than it should be to view my calendar in a way that is meaningful and easy for me.

Are there any workarounds or even add-ons I could purchase that address this issue?

Thanks

p.s. I spoke too soon in the post above from many moons ago, as there is no "none" that works, I'm not sure why I thought there was.

I'm not aware of any 3rd party tools and I don't know of any workarounds. If the item does not have a color category assigned you could use automatic formatting... but color categories override formatting. (This is the one thing I really hate about color categories - I want color separate from categories so I can use automatic formatting.)

One Idea that just came to mind is a custom field with automatic formatting. I'll test it out - it might not work as good in real life as it does in my head. <g>

Diane, today I went to Outlook and categorized a multiple day event and was able to make it a completely different color than the background so it shows up beautifully. Did MS finally sneak this in with an Office update?! Because back when I posted above I could not get events to show up as a different color than the background.

Ah OK, I figured it out. Back when I posted I think I was scheduling things like 8-5 appointments across multiple days and that is what also changes the background to the same color. Now I don't schedule appointments for more than a day. In the process I forgot that events actually can have a different background color. I knew you would set me straight :).
