hey,

i use at home Outlook 2016 to query my emails from 2 gmail accounts ( pop3 ) , one account is used for funny stuff is set to delete all from gmail, the other just copies the messages. both the accounts drop the emails to a MyMail.PST file ( ~ 30Gb by now :D)

i also use Outlook to read (and store) RSS messages from different tech pages. the problems appears here as i`ve made a new file RSS.PST where i move all the RSS stuff.

the problem i get is pretty annoying, each time i reinstall the system ( 6 months - 1 year ) the RSS are moving by default to the MyMail.PST and i have to set manually one by one to move to the RSS.PST. this is the first problem, most of the times it takes me 30-60 minutes and is done ( ~ 50-60 rss feeds )

the annoying problem is that when i reinstall and add the RSS.PST to a new outlook it creates the default folders inbox/sent/deleted/outbox ..and so on which i dont need it :) as i use that RSS.PST only to store files. any idea how to remove ( or hide) those folders?

I have a macro that will hide the folders - but as long as the pst is not set as default, it shouldn't create those folders.
How to Hide or Delete Outlook's Default Folders - for the non-default folder, you can delete, if the default folder, Hide to reduce the chances that outlook will recreate then.

When you reinstall, do you use the same computer name and account log in? If so, save the profile keys from the registry and you'll save a few steps. In 2016 the profile is under the Outlook path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Profiles

But... you really shouldn't need to reinstall frequently with the modern OSes. You shouldn't make a new pst every 6 months to a year as some "experts" (namely, Woody Leonard) convinced people they had to do. If you do this to reduce the pst size, use auto archive (now called clean up old mail) to move or delete mail.
 
never knew that so many data is in registry from outlook, i`ve saved the location for the next reinstall

i like to test new stuff most of the time so thats why i keep reinstalling but i do when major updates are coming, probably i will reinstall this system in 1 month ( after 10 months active )

the .pst is from long ago, ported from outlook 2007 - > 2010 > 2016 :) i only delete stuff inside and compact it like 6-8 months with a drop of 5-6 Gb each time

the rss i had to move to a different .pst to be able to compact more frequently

i did the hide with mfcmapi (x64) and worked nice, only one stuff remaining, probably by design "search folder" but it`s ok as it is. i`ve tried before this tool but i was stuff in the 1st screen, never knew that i need to log and double click the .pst files that appear there
