Using Win 8.1 64-bit, I run into the following problem when setting up a single Gmail account in Outlook 2016 :
I've created 4 folders under my email address, as seen in the attached Outlook screenshot.
I then create a rule to filter certain emails to each of these 4 folders:
from xxxxx@xxxxx.xxx
move to folder xxxxx
and stop processing more rules
Problem is that when an email is automatically
moved to these 4 folders via rules, then I also receive the Outlook envelope icon in the taskbar.
This is not what I want, and for some reason it was not like this when I used Outlook 2016 and a POP account instead of IMAP.
I also have Spamfighter auto-filtering spam to my [Gmail]Spam folder and the same thing happens there.
I only want to see the envelope icon indicating arrival of new email when something is sent to my Inbox (which I do currently).
Anything that is filtered with rules I don't want to be alerted about.
Does anyone have a simple solution without having to create a bunch of more rules?
