When I read an email that I have received on my Outlook client, there is usually a message at the top stating “If there are problems with how this message is displayed, click here to view it in a browser.”. If I click this message, a small box appears stating “View in Browser”. Clicking that leads to a box with a warning about security settings and, if I then click “OK” in that box, a pop-up is displayed entitled “How do you want to open this file” and you are given a choice of IE, Edge, etc.
On one of the Outlook accounts on my system, that pop-up no longer appears and, instead, I am put into an Edge page in which the HTML source of the email is displayed. The path in the Edge search field indicates that the email.htm file is in a folder within the path C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Outlook. If I delete that folder and then try to view the email in a browser again, the same thing happens and a new folder in that path is created.
How do I reset this Outlook account so that the pop-up “How do you want to open this file” opens instead?
In case it helps, on my system, each Outlook account is in a separate Windows account. So, it might be that some Windows or Edge setting in the Windows account needs to be reset. Also, I don’t use Edge for browsing, I use Chrome. So Edge has never been initialised on any of the Windows accounts on my system.
