messages disappearing, not deleted

I have recently started using the new Outlook.

I received an email from Bell to my gmail account on my laptop. When I started Outlook on my laptop, the message appeared in the inbox, but only for a minute or two. Then it disappeared!
I checked all the other folders, including trash and spam. Its nowhere to be found.
I started the Outlook app on my phone and the message was there, but it disappeared as I was watching.
Where could this message be going, and why?
 
I was able to find a copy of the message in the Gmail Trash on my laptop. I moved it back to the inbox and Outlook picked it up the next day. I have no idea what happened. Thanks ...g

A few others have complained about disappearing messages also but I don't know the cause.

Today I sent just the two photos from that problem email to my wife, and how SHE has the same problem. She also has an IMAP account Windows on Comcast. Searching, even with AI, doesn't provide any useful results.
