Re-download past messages

Hi,

I am running W11 with Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2024. I have the email account set up as pop3 and leave the messages on the server. I use the 'recent' address addition to avoid downloading the older messages that I have processed.

Now I have had a crash and have set up the above on a new computer. But my latest computer back up leaves a gap from when it was made until now. So my question; is there a way to re-download the messages that I previously processed before the crash but are not reflected in the backup? I understand if this is possible I will have to re-download all of the messages.

If this is possible please provide specific directions since I get lost easily in all of these settings.

Are you using an older pst? There is a hidden file in the data file that tracks the last message downloaded - but even an old pst should download all mail that is still on the server that was not downloaded.

By default, pop accounts delete mail from the server after 14 days - so unless you changed that setting, you might only have 14 days of mail on the server... and if you changed it in the old profile, don't forget to change it in the new profile. :)(

Try renaming the pst and making a new one (or making a new profile) and download everything then move or import it into the pst that is missing recent mail.

Thanks for your reply. The pst I used was an older one generated in March 2024. So any messages I processed and saved to my computer have been lost in the crash. So what I was looking for was way to re-download the lost messages between March and my current pst. I leave all my messages on the server so I know they are there.

Any more advice?
 
If all the messages are on the server, they should download to a new pst in a new profile... they should download to an old pst too.

Try downloading to a new profile / new pst - then import into the old pst using the don't import duplicates option.
