Can't send messages to groups in Outlook

There is an issue with a DL in Outlook contacts. When I try to send a message to the DL - I get the following error:

"The contact group(s) this message is addressed to must contain recipients. Add at least one recipient to each list".

When we expand the DL - we see recipients.

Where should I look next?

1) I didn't check to see if there was a DL nested within the original DL. I'll have to do that.
2) Exchange 2010\ Outlook - either '13 or '16.

Sorry for the vague responses - I was pulled into this late
