A big enough problem not to use a free children's email service?

You'd best ask Google what they recommend you to do. You might ask if

they offer IMAP access, which does allow what you want.

Lucky you use gmail.

Gmail supports SMTP mail service as well as pop3 (which you are currently

using)

POP3 downloads all e-mail from a server to a client whereas SMTP leaves the

mail on the server, and syncronises with the client.

Chnage the mode of your gmail account to SMTP. Change settings on your

desktop and laptop and you can even see th email you send using your

desktop on your laptop.
