I'm using both Windows Live Hotmail and Outlook 2007. I have personal folders

on my Hotmail web based email that I want to import into Outlook 2007. I

cannot locate a way to save the Hotmail personal folders to import into my

personal folders in Outlook 2007. When I installed Outlook 2007 and

syncronized the mail, the first four of my 32 personal folders copied the

contents to Outlook 2007, but 28 personal folders on Outlook 2007 remain

empty. Any help would be appreciated as I'm faced with re-sending each email

to myself and then placing in the Outlook folders.

Have you the latest Outlook Connector installed already?

All mail should be available to you in Outlook already then. You can then

just drag & drop to move your emails to someplace else.

If somehow not all the folders show up in Outlook, remove the Live Hotmail

account from Outlook, restart Outlook and then add the account again.

Thanks Roady, but it is not an issue with the folders not showing in Outlook

2007, but rather that they don't contain the emails that are in the hotmail

folders. I have the most current Outlook Connector version, but cannot drag

and drop folders, nor can I copy or export them.

The same solution applies ;-)

You'd have to move the individual items instead. Use CTRL+A to select all

items in a fold at once.

"senRoady - I hope my question is related (if not, I'd be happy to start a

new thread). I have Outlook 2007 on Vista Home and a Hotmail account. Over

the years (with Outlook 2003 prior to 2007) I have sent email either from

Outlook or from the Hotmail webmail facility. Mail sent from Outlook is

filed both in "sent items" in my personal folders and also on the Hotmail

server; mail sent from the webmail interface is just stored on the server.

I want to synchronise the "sent items" folders to finish up with a single

definitive list in my Personal Folders, then I'll empty "sent items" folder

on the server. I've got over 1,000 sent items on the server, roughly half of

which I wrote and sent from Outlook (and which are therefore already filed in

my Personal Folders). Ideally, I want to do a single 'select' of all sent

items on the server and then do a copy or move to Personal Folders, BUT

WITHOUT DUPLICATING ITEMS. Is this possible?

OK, I've seen an area dealing with -How to move Hotmail folders to Outlook 2007?- Its about 4 feet long and , to me, the answer is not obvious. Please direct me to the steps I need to move my Hotmail emails to my Outlook 2007, on Vista.

Thanks

Bob

You want to move your mail from Hotmail online to Outlook? You need to either use the hotmail connector or create a POP3 account to your hotmail account. If all of the mail is in the Hotmail inbox, POP3 works fine. If you have mail sorted into different folders online, you'll want to use the Outlook Hotmail Connector.

See Online Services for POP3 config - links to the outlook hotmail connector are in the right sidebar of that page, near the top (scroll up that page).
