Greetings all; I am attempting to move my .pst files from the C:\ to the D:\. I prefer to have all information that requires access to NOT be on the OS drive. And now I need to reinstall Win7x64 to resolve several unexplainable problems.

However, my two accounts are IMAP so that I can work across several devices; Desktop, Notebook, iPhone & iPad.

I can move the data file location for "outlook" as its default. But the IMAP accounts don't have that option! (???)

I understand the other problems with wanting to view all accounts on one screen at one time like you can do with other devices--but redirecting the file location(s) seems to be a different issue all together.

Many thanx!!!

Preston

You need to move them using a special method or use the forceps key - see How to move the IMAP personal folder (*.pst) - Slipstick Systems for instructions. I recommend using the registry key but you will need to set it up before you create the account. If the account is already set up, set the registry key then move the pst using the instructions.

THANK YOU!

I've not tried this yet--but the Slipstick answer is really complete and as soon as I have the time to concentrate on it, will do!

Moving IMAP data file - Win 7 v's Vista!!

Hi,

First time forum poster, so hopefully this is correct place to ask the question?

I've got a laptop (Win7 - 64, Outlook 2010-32) and desktop (Vista - 32, Outlook 2010-32) and I've followed Dianne's instructions for moving the imap files. The laptop has gone famously and is working faultlessly. The desktop has not been so co-operative.

With the desktop I was able to move the files successfully and everything looks ok, but the moved imap files are no longer processed in the send/receive all task - they don't appear. They are still selected in the defined "all group". If you go to the send/receive tab when you select each account a new option "Connect to Server" appears which you can select and it seems to perform the send/receive for that account only. If you move the imap pst file back to the default location the problem resolves.

I didn't change any group settings, this occurred as soon as I moved the IMAP files.

Thanks

Michael

PS Thanks for the IMAP move notes. They were really good!!
