Restoring PST files won't work

Hi all;
I'm hoping for a magic bullet, or an idea that may work.
I have 3 .pst files from an archiving effort some months ago.
They will not restore, I can't open or view them.
When making attempts to access them, Outlook 2003 crashes every time.
I ran a repair on the pst files, they are supposedly good files.

Is there any other way to gain access, even opening or converting to a text or database file in order to extract the main details I still need?
