Gmail host and Outlook on two computer

I use Gmail as my mail store. I have two PCs using Outlook 2013. Is there an article on about keeping both PCs in Sync without using IMAP? Felt there was for Gmail seemed to allow it?

BTW, google has a sync utility for google apps accounts - it does not work with free accounts. It syncs calendar, contacts, and mail.
