Outlook version
Outlook 2016 32 bit
Email Account
Office 365 Exchange
I have been using Outlook for 20 years, going back to Outlook 97 thru to Outlook 2016 (part of Office and now Office 365 subscriptions). I administrate several Windows PCs with Office 365, with different Microsoft accounts.

This has worked well over the years starting with POP3, then IMAP syncing with the Outlook Hotmail Connector, then Exchange Active Sync and now with the new Microsoft Exchange system, as my Microsoft accounts/email accounts were migrated successfully last year.

I have recently installed the Microsoft Outlook for Android app on 2 different android devices using 2 different Microsoft accounts/email accounts.

However, when syncing with Outlook.com, People/Contact data changes. Email addresses and Business/Home/Other addresses are affected, and I believe this is due to sync issues between Outlook.com and the Microsoft Outlook for Android app.

Subsequently, these changes sync with (and are reflected in) Outlook 2016 on the Windows 10 Pro 64-bit PCs. The behaviour is consistent for both Microsoft accounts/email accounts and android devices I have tested. This behaviour is making the use of the Outlook.com, Outlook 2016 and mobile android devices, totally unreliable and totally useless.

Is there an alternative to the Microsoft Outlook for Android app that can sync with Outlook.com without any sync issues and so leaving my People/Contact data intact? TIA.

Have you tried the native Android app?

One issue i am aware of (that i thought was fixed) - put something in the address field. If the mailing address field is empty, the fields get messed up. AFAIK, you only need one of the address fields with something - even a space - in them, not all 3. I believe this issue was limited to the native android app, not the outlook app.

FWIW, the outlook app should properly sync with outlook.com (assuming you have the latest version) - I believe it uses EWS (Exchange web services) not active sync these days.

No, haven't tried the native Android app as I wanted something that handles more than Contacts. The Outlook for Android app handles mail, calendar, contacts etc. in a single app.

It should work properly but doesn't.

Personal email address and Work email address appear correct in Outlook.com. After adding the email account to the Outlook for Android app and syncing, for People with more than 1 email address, the Personal email address often becomes the Work email address and the Work email address becomes the Personal email address. This is subsequently synced and reflected in Outlook 2016, with Email becoming Email2 and Email2 becoming Email. Why the switching of email addresses, the Home and Business phone numbers do not switch, so why the email addresses?

Regarding the Business/Home/Other addresses, the Street, City, Postcode, State/Province and Country/Region fields are populated and have been this way for 20 years. I need it this way as I mail merge often within Word 2016, with Outlook Contacts as the source.

However, I noticed recently, after adding the email account to the Outlook for Android app, in Outlook.com (and subsequently in Outlook 2016) almost all the addresses, Street, City, Postcode, State/Province and Country/Region have been merged into Street and City, Postcode, State/Province and Country/Region are blank. This is unusable, when we are a talking of hundreds of Contacts.

I believe the issue is somehow connected to parsing the address for use with the Google address api. However, whether I am right or wrong about this, there is no reason why my address data should be altered at all.

Yeah, the only real difference is that it's one app over three...

i will double check on the other issues.
