What is it, and why won't it load?

I have just sucessfully installed disc 1 of Office Pro 2007 (onto XP SP3 +

latest updates) and updated it - SP2 etc., etc..

Disk 2 howevever will not load - I get -

"CD 2 for the Business Contact Manager failed to install - log files

available. I tried this right after CD 1 finished and again after getting a

full set of updates for windows and office. Same failure in both cases -

"-------------------------
Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007

-------------------------
Setup failed to install the required component Microsoft SQL Server 2005

Express (MSSMLBIZ). Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 cannot

continue. See C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup

Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt for more detail.

-------------------------
OK

---------------------------"

Before diving into posible solutions to this, can anyone explain what BCM

actually does in concrete specific terms? I did not buy Pro for this, and I

have no idea what it does - but I do run my own business. It may be I don't

want what it does, in which case working to install it could be a waste of

time - though it's anoying to buy something and have it not work!

OK, thanks DL, that's the first thing (sorry my searches did not turn that up).

It looks like BCM could be useful to me, so now there is the second part -

how can I get around the 'won't install' problem? I tried installing straight

after Disc 1 loaded, also after updating basic Office to SP2, also after

updating everything MS offered. Same results in all cases.

I have the same problem; installed disk 1 ok, but disk 2 will not install,

said the microsoft office 2007 primary interop assemblies could not load. I

went to Microsoft, downloaded their interop assemblies; still nothing.

I too am having the same problem. Running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

Here's detail of attempted install. Disk 1 of Office Small Business 2007

installed without a problem, but Disk 2 with Business Contact Manager and SQL

Express (default install, no choice) will not install. The Setup Wizard

screen just continues to show the installation in progress screen as the

"green" install line tracks gradually across to complete but then it just

repeats inself. After several aborted attempts I let this continue overnight

and it was still running same loop. A Known Program Compatibility Assistant

screen does appear that has button to check for solutions online that comes

back with the message that no solutions are available. There is also a

notice to apply SQL Server 2005 Pack 3 before you run SQL Server 2005 (which

of course can't be done since it never installs). Could not find solution

via support search. Only reason purchased Small Biz version of Office instaed

of cheaper version was for Business Contact Manager. Please help if you can.

Thanks.

Same Here!

I used the CRM Outlook Add-In Avidian Prophet for the past two years with

Outlook 2007 on WinXP but ran into difficulties when I installed Windows 7.

So I tested Outlook 2007 with BCM on a laptop still running XP, decided that

it would be a usable replacement for Prophet but can't install in on my

Windows 7 office computer. Keep getting the "Failed to install the required

component Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies message. Since the

control panel claims that it is installed, I was about to attempt an

uninstall-reinstall of Office 2007, but the other postings here don't give be

confidence that that would work. Has anyone found a solution? Does anyone

know how we can get Microsoft to address this? Unbelievable!

I found this possible solution in Microsoft's Troubleshooting section of

Office Online for Outlook with Business Contact Manager. Solutions are shown

for XP and Vista, but this might also work for Windows 7.

Q. I received a message stating that Business Contact Manager for Outlook

installation did not complete because the Primary Interop Assemblies program

must be installed.

A. In some instances, you may find that the Microsoft Office Primary Interop

Assemblies program is already installed. In this case, remove the Primary

Interop Assemblies program, and then try installing Business Contact Manager

for Outlook again.

ShowWindows XP

1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2. In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove

a program.

3. In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft Primary

Interop Assemblies, and then click Remove.

4. Follow the instructions on your screen.

HideWindows Vista

1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2. In Control Panel, under Programs, click Uninstall a program.

3. Click Microsoft Primary Interop Assemblies, and then click Uninstall.

4. Follow the instructions on your screen.

I installed disc 1 of Office Pro 2007 (onto XP SP3 +

latest updates).

Disk 2 however will not load - I get -

full set of updates for windows and office. Same failure in both cases -

Express (MSSMLBIZ). Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 cannot

continue. See C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup
