Wild Card Search in Address Book

Searches in the Outlook global address list and using ctrl-K from the address line of an email appear to work using the leading string of characters typed, searching for them in the email address or any other box that has been completed in " Properties" . Is there any way of using wild cards such as " *" , in a similar same way to that used in Word or Excel, in order to find embedded strings?
 
Anyone know if Microsoft ever has any plans of plugging this hole (or can redirect to a good location to ask/propose such things)?
 
Found one addin which greatly improves the global address list. Might be helpful for others looking for a better colleague lookup... company contacts for Outlook b wizardsoft.
