In Contacts Phone List View, allow alpha jump w/single key, same as Card views

One of my Contact folders is easiest to use in the Phone List view, sorted by Company Name.

In the Phone List view, want to press an alpha key that makes the view jump to the names beginning with the letter of the key pressed.

This is the standard behavior of all three of the standard Card views (Business Cards, Address Cards, etc).

Can this be done? I can see a workaround by creating a custom view based upon a Card view, but thought I'd ask first.

Do you have in-cell editing enabled? Try disabling that. You may need to use a view that doesn't group - the jump works on the field you are sorting by.

Thanks, Diane -- Disabling In-cell editing makes it work great. :cool:

I often copy/paste within that view (cell editing) though, and would lose that function. A toolbar toggle would be cool (for cell edits).

Would not mind opening a contact to edit, but I have some custom fields I've only worked into the Phone List... would a customized "full view" show exactly the fields I want, upon double clicking to fully open a contact? All these years I've never customized a form... maybe you have a "guide" for that in your files?

If you need to a toggle, use a custom view - one with in-cell on, one with in-cell off. I'll check VBA - but I don't think it can toggle in-cell off and on. It can switch the views though (I'm pretty sure that is supported in 2007.)

OK if you mean toggle using the toolbar drop-down list for views, that effectively derails the alpha jump: toggling the in-cell ON view "refreshes" the list, losing your alpha jumped view.

Found the form designer (again, cannot believe I've never pulled it up before!) and do not see my user-defined fields, even with User-defined fields in folder selected on the Field Chooser box. I suspect years ago I did something wrong when I created a few new fields.
